Design Story

Designed to complement the Merge Lounge Chair, the Merge Footstool carries the collection’s soft, inviting character into a compact companion piece. Its rounded silhouette and generous upholstery create a sense of visual softness while providing a comfortable place to put your feet up.

The Loam textile combines recycled polyester and recycled cotton with acrylic, polyester and wool, creating a richly composed upholstery with the durability required for everyday living. With a Martindale rating of 60,000 rubs, the fabric balances tactile appeal with practical performance.

Beneath the upholstered form, a Dark Bronze aluminum base provides a subtle structural contrast while maintaining the footstool’s understated appearance. Pair it with the Merge Lounge Chair to create a complete lounging arrangement, or use it independently as a versatile upholstered accent within a living room or seating area.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the Merge Lounge Chair to use the Merge Footstool?

No. While the Merge Footstool was specifically designed to complement the Merge Lounge Chair, its softly rounded upholstered form also allows it to work independently within a living room or seating arrangement. Pairing the two creates the most cohesive look and provides a comfortable way to extend your lounging position.

Is the Merge Footstool fabric durable enough for everyday use?

Yes. The Loam upholstery has a Martindale rating of 60,000 rubs, indicating a high level of resistance to abrasion from regular use. Its textile blend includes recycled polyester and recycled cotton alongside acrylic, polyester and wool, combining durability with a comfortable, tactile finish.

What does Loam upholstery look like in a contemporary living room?

Loam brings a warm, natural quality to upholstered furniture and pairs particularly well with wood, stone and other earthy materials. On the Merge Footstool, the textile is contrasted by a Dark Bronze aluminum base, making it an easy addition to contemporary, organic modern and neutral living spaces.
