The Sequence Dining Table by Alain van Havre transforms solid oak into a striking sculptural centrepiece. Inspired by rhythm, repetition and variation, its architectural base alternates solid forms with open space beneath a beautifully restrained tabletop. • Solid Oak Construction — Natural oak brings warmth, character and substantial presence.
  • Hardwax Oil Finish — Protects the wood while retaining its natural grain and tactile quality.
  • Statement Dining Table — Nearly eight feet long, Sequence is designed to anchor a generous dining space.
Design Story

Designed by Alain van Havre, the Sequence Dining Table explores the visual rhythm created through repetition and variation. Rather than treating the table base as a purely structural element, a series of solid oak forms alternate beneath the tabletop, creating a sculptural composition that changes as the table is viewed from different angles.

The substantial base plays with presence and openness, giving the table architectural weight without creating one continuous visual mass. Above it, a smooth and deliberately simple tabletop provides a quiet counterpoint, allowing the geometry below to become the defining feature of the design.

Crafted from solid oak and finished with hardwax oil, Sequence retains the natural warmth, grain and tactile character of the wood. Its generous 94.5-inch length comfortably accommodates up to ten people, making it particularly suited to large dining rooms and homes where the table becomes a central place for gathering.

Substantial in both scale and construction, the Sequence Dining Table combines the permanence of solid oak with a design that feels more like a piece of functional sculpture.

Frequently asked questions

What size dining table works well for seating 10 people?

A large rectangular dining table around eight feet long can provide comfortable seating for up to ten people, depending on its base and chair placement. The Sequence Dining Table measures 94.5 inches long by 43.5 inches wide and is designed to comfortably accommodate up to ten, making it an excellent option for larger dining rooms and frequent entertaining.

Is a solid oak dining table a good choice for a contemporary interior?

Yes. Solid oak brings natural warmth and texture to contemporary interiors and can soften spaces dominated by harder architectural materials. The Sequence Dining Table pairs a simple natural oak tabletop with a highly sculptural base, allowing it to work particularly well in modern, minimalist and organic contemporary dining spaces.

What makes the Sequence Dining Table a statement piece?

Unlike a conventional dining table with four standard legs, the Sequence Dining Table uses repeating solid oak elements to create an architectural base with alternating areas of mass and open space. The sculptural base changes visually depending on where it is viewed from, while the restrained tabletop keeps the overall design balanced. It works especially well in dining rooms where the table is intended to be a central design feature rather than simply a functional surface.
